Akira Kusai
Akira Kusai, PhD, is a Senior Chief Researcher for Formulation Technology Research Laboratories, Daiichisankyo Company, Ltd. He had been the director of product development laboratories, Sankyo Company, Ltd. from 2001 to March 2007 just before the integration with Daiichi Pharmaceutical Company, Ltd. He started working at Sankyo as a research scientist 34 years ago. He received his Bsc and MS from the faculty of science, Osaka University, and PhD from the faculty of pharmacy science, Kuyoto University in 1971 and 1987, respectively. He worked at Dr. W.I. Higuchi’s Laboratory, College of Pharmacy, and University of Michigan as a visiting research associate from 1980 to 1988. He has authored and co-authored more than 50 articles, abstracts and presentations including about 15 patent applications. Current scientific and research interests include the design and development of solid and parenteral dosage forms and novel drug delivery systems.
