Dale Aldrich

Scott Aldrich D. Scott Aldrich has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 35 years and held positions directing the analytical labs in both quality control and R&D organizations. He was responsible for R&D product formulation development and package presentation. Aldrich developed the Upjohn system of Trace Analysis for particulate matter microanalysis and directed the domestic Center of Excellence programs in Pharmacia and Pfizer for global particulate matter control efforts. All pharmaceutical dosage forms, devices, packages and vendor processes were included in this responsibility. Currently, he consults in the pharmaceutical, instrument and food industries in particulate matter control projects and microanalytical training. Aldrich received his BS in microbiology from Western Michigan University. He advanced his microanalytical concepts with McCrone Research Institute, Chicago. He has developed and implemented microanalytical investigative processes in support of product improvement and formulation stability projects. Aldrich has tested and validated inspection systems, trained inspectors and microscopists and conducted thousands of contamination investigations. He is expert in light microscopy, electron microscopy, and applied spectroscopies. He has published and presented work in the field of visual inspection, microanalysis and spectroscopic analysis. He currently serves as an expert member of the USP Parenteral Products – Industrial 2005-2010 committee, and is an active member of PDA, AAPS, ACS and various microscopy societies.
