Gary Knapick
Gary Knapick, PE, manages the Validation Services department at the Bristol-Myers Squibb biotechnology manufacturing facility in Syracuse, New York. This group supports microbial and mammalian cell culture manufacturing processes through the qualification of process equipment, steam-in-place processes, cleaning processes, controlled environments, and critical process utility systems. His professional interests include validation program development, risk-assessment methodologies, and integration of validation with quality, engineering, and plant management systems. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Knapick worked in the technical services group of Wyeth Vaccines and as a process engineer within the chemical development and bioprocess development groups of Wyeth Research. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering with a minor in bioengineering from the University of Pittsburgh. Knapick earned a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin and completed the bioprocess engineering graduate certificate program offered through the State University of New York (SUNY) and Syracuse University.
