Richard Ciccarelli

Richard Richard Ciccarelli, PhD, is Vice President of R&D Administration and Research Operations for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. In this role he is responsible for a number of day-to-day operations across all sites of Wyeth Research. Approximately 600 staff report to Ciccarelli from global research facilities, bioresources, R&D environmental health and safety, and biomedical engineering. He is also responsible for capital planning and budgeting, and capital project management for Wyeth Research. Ciccarelli serves as a member of the R&D Executive Committee (RADEX) and also serves as the Institutional Official for Wyeth Research. He has been with Wyeth for 13 years and has held a number of scientific, managerial and operational positions, including vice president of vaccine discovery research and vice president of vaccine management and operations. Ciccarelli joined Wyeth when the company acquired the private biotechnology company Apollon, Inc., where he was the vice president of research and development. Prior to that he directed molecular genetics for Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals and was a scientist within the corporate research division of Eastman Kodak. He has a number of publications and patents in biotechnology, vaccine research, and AIDS research. Ciccarelli received his PhD in chemistry from Dartmouth in 1983 and was then awarded a Damon Runyon fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he focused on molecular biology and cancer research. Ciccarelli received his B.A. Magna Cum Laude in chemistry from Boston University in 1979.
