Armen Donabedian
Armen Donabedian, Ph.D. is a K.W. Tunnell Contractor in support of the Pandemic Influenza Program in the Biomedical Advancement Research Development Authority (BARDA) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Dr. Donabedian joined the Pandemic Flu Group in 2006, where he works as a Senior Program Manager and technical advisor for the advanced development of cell-based and recombinant influenza virus vaccine manufacturing, international influenza vaccine development and analytical development of vaccine potency assay methods. He received his PhD in Epidemiologic Science from The Michigan University, School of Public Health under the tutelage of John Maassab, inventor of FluMist. He joined the Parke-Davis Sterile Products Division in l989 and was responsible for the technical support of Fluogen inactivated, trivalent influenza virus vaccine and Aplisol, tuberculin skin testing reagent. Following purchase of the Sterile Products Division by King Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Donabedian served as Senior Director of Biopharmaceutical Technology and Development and as Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Technology of the Sterile Products Division. In addition, he also has worked on evaluation panels for Antigen Sparing and Cell and Recombinant Based Pandemic Influenza. Dr. Donabedian left King Pharmaceuticals to join the HHS Pandemic Flu Program as an independent consultant in vaccine and biologics manufacturing.
